Halfway review of the Four Nations

After the first 2 events of the Four Nations Coastal Sculling Series are now done we are at the halfway stage of the competition. This means we have got to a point where we can start looking into the main title contenders and the results that they need in Jersey and Scotland (the 2 remaining rounds) in order to win the series.

Senior Women

1. Megan Hewison 16 points

2. Laura McKenzie 15 points

3. Olivia Hodgson 6 points

1. Natacha Searson 6 points

After the first 2 races 2 athletes have clearly broken away in the standings with Megan Hewison having a strong showing in round 1 in Welsh Beach Sprint Championships, just edging Olivia Hodgson to the title, before being knocked out of the English Beach Sprint Championships by Heather Gordon. Laura McKenzie didn't race in Wales but had a convincingly fast showing to take the round win in the English Championships. Olivia Hodgson and Natacha Searson are in joint third 10 points back and it would take an impressive effort to catch back up to the leaders but never say never.

Senior Men

In the senior Mens table Cam Buchan takes the lead by 5 points having won in Wales and finished 2nd in England making him the man to beat, with Chris Thompson hot on his heels having not raced in Wales. Thompson did however beat Buchan by 7.5 seconds in the A final in England which shows he has a very strong chance to push on and overtake Buchan in the following rounds. James Cox is a long way behind in 3rd but he very nearly beat Buchan in Wales, before struggling in England, but do not write him off.
