Which GB crews should I look out for at the European Championships?

The obvious answer for a standout British crew is Leicester Rowing Club’s Lauren Henry, who won her final at Henley Royal Regatta by a margin of 5 lengths, convincingly taking home a red box. Henry also won World Cup 1 of 2026 in a narrow 0.14 second victory to the Lithuanian sculler Viktorija Senkute. Henry didn’t race World Cup 2 but came back strong for World Cup 3 in order to win it by over 4 and a half seconds in a strong row with a very fast last 500m

T. Digby and J. Wincomb M2-

Team GB have changed their pair lineup to another Henley winning crew in Tom Digby and Jake Wincomb who won their Henley final over a crew from Nautilus RC NED by a shade under 2 lengths. These are 2 very successful athletes and could provide very strong results with Digby being in the 2024 men's 8+ that won World Cup 1, World Cup 2, European Rowing Championships and an Olympic gold, With Wincomb missing out on his first senior world medal by 1 second in the men’s coxless fours in 2025. Wincomb also has 4 under 23 medals (2 gold, 2 bronze).

The women’s quad for these championships will be very keen to push on from their narrow gold at World Cup 3 this weekend where they beat the German crew by 1.5 seconds having lost to them at World Cup 1. This is not to say that the quads will be a 2 horse race with the likes of Netherlands or Romania having a couple of strong results and medals this year, but whether or not they have the power and technique to keep up with a crew stroked by Imogen Grant is another question.
